Since incorporating Discount Movers, Inc. in 1990, we've built our reputation on honest service, transparent pricing, and exceptional customer care. What began as a local residential moving company has grown into DMI Relocation, providing comprehensive residential, commercial, senior, designer, installation, warehousing, and specialty relocation services throughout California.

Today, we proudly serve homeowners, businesses, interior designers, schools, public agencies, property managers, nonprofit organizations, and corporate clients with the same commitment that has guided our company for more than three decades.

Unlike many moving companies owned by investors or managed from corporate offices, DMI Relocation remains owner-operated. I continue to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, overseeing estimates, scheduling, customer service, logistics, and quality control to ensure every move meets our high standards.

Meet the Owner

Hi, I'm Philip Gullion the owner of Discount Movers, Inc. and DMI Relocation.

My journey in the moving industry began in 1983, although it actually started a few years earlier. As a freshman in high school, I spent my summers moving furniture while competing on my school's wrestling team. What began as a way to stay in shape during the offseason quickly became a lifelong career built on hard work, integrity, and taking care of people.

While attending junior college and playing water polo, I founded Discount Movers as a sole proprietorship in 1983. After transferring to the University of Southern California, I earned my degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management in 1988. In 1990, I officially incorporated Discount Movers, Inc., laying the foundation for what has become one of Southern California's most respected moving companies.

Our company began in Orange, California, later moved to Santa Ana, where we proudly served customers for more than 20 years, and today operates from our headquarters in Anaheim, continuing to serve clients throughout California.

Even today, after more than four decades in the moving industry, you'll still find me meeting with customers, preparing estimates, coordinating logistics, and assisting on large or particularly complex relocation projects. I believe every customer deserves direct access to experienced management and an owner who stands behind every move.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of helping thousands of families, businesses, interior designers, schools, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations relocate throughout California. Some of our most rewarding work has included projects for Volunteers of America, housing for veterans, and family crisis centers, helping organizations that make a meaningful difference in our communities.

What has kept me passionate about this business for more than four decades isn't simply moving furniture—it's the relationships we've built along the way. Many of our customers have returned years later when it's time to move again, referred their friends and family, or simply called for trusted advice. That loyalty is something I never take for granted and remains the greatest compliment our company can receive.

When I chose the name Discount Movers, it wasn't because I wanted to build the cheapest moving company.

I chose it because I understood how many people viewed the moving industry. Customers often assumed movers would overcharge, surprise them with hidden fees, or continually increase the price after the move had already begun.

I wanted our company to stand for something different: high-quality moving services at a fair and honest price.

As our business expanded into commercial relocation, warehousing, logistics, designer receiving and installation, senior moving, institutional projects, and specialty transportation, our brand naturally evolved into DMI Relocation to better represent the wide range of professional services we provide today.

While our name has evolved, our philosophy has never changed. We still believe every customer deserves honest advice, transparent pricing, exceptional workmanship, and personal service from experienced professionals who truly care.
